Evano Oruvan....

What an excellent title (first of all, thanks to Marati director Nishikant Kamat without any english tag lines and titles) for a beautiful (infact, you can say it as a thoughful movie). I was fascinated by the first 4 minutes of the movie where they showed a shot which describes the protagonist's daily routine.

There are lot of movies which has projected the heroism of the hero to fight against the system by taking the law in his hands and killing people mercilessly. This movie was quite different in that front. The hero erupts in anger after he is being criticised for his honesty, his loyalty and belief in this system that every single individual has the right to live a decent and calm life in this world.

Beautifully set in typical "brahmanal" location on Nanganallur, Sangeetha played the role of "vatsala" with such ease and elan that it reminded me of many vatsalas which i had seen KK Nagar / Pazhaya Mambalam (West Mambalam). Typical middleclass house, cute little daughter (Iyer aathu Kutty ponnu) and middle class "polumbals"..hats off to Nishikant and Madhavan.

Seeman has played a very dignified role which probably resembles as an inner voice/conscious part of the movie, which triggers many questions to viewers. It reminded me of Rajesh's role in Mahanadhi who tries to reform KamalHassan (Krishnaswamy).

Ofcourse, the movie has few loose edges which leaves many questions unanswered. Just because somebody provokes you to change the system / do good to a society, will somebody carry on his hunt?. School donations / Tuition fees / Irresponsible doctors / selling goods little more than MRP (Maximum Retail Price) have already became a norm in our society, Is it not stupid to show as though he is seeing this for the first time?.

As seeman beautifully says that a society which has its head down, will it accept it, if somebody raises their head in the name of questions. Though there are flaws in storyline, still we need to accept and applaud Nishikant's effort in bringing "Dombvilli Fast" to Tamizh along with Madhavan.

Finally, I would appreciate Tamil cinema to have churned beautiful movies of different genre in this year, be it a rustic "Paruthiveeran", a touching "Mozhi", thought provoking "katradhu Thamizh" / be it "Evano Oruvan".
